meet the Aamori Group team

Kelly Saunders (nee Barker)

Managing Director | Lead Consultant

Kelly has spent the past 10 years working within the vocational education and training sector in wide variety of roles from developer to trainer and manager within large and small registered training organisations as well creating 2 businesses with her husband - a mine engineering consultancy and Aamori Group.

During this time, Kelly undertook 18 months living and working in the Pacific Islands mentoring, training and developing Australian qualifications throughout the regions. While in the Pacific, listening to the national students use storytelling and expressive role playing to better grasp the concepts being delivered, she developed a greater passion for the use of experiential learning and the importance of quality, targeted professional development.

With qualifications in Training & Education, Business, Leadership and Work Health & Safety and accreditation as a Leadership Challenge trainer and LPI coach, Kelly combines her life experience, and wide range of industry experience from the legal environment, public safety, mining, refining, farming and banking to the development of specialised professional development facilitation, leadership training and coaching.

Kelly's ultimate goal is to combine her two major passions - professional development and world travel - to create Leadership and Professional Development Retreats in exotic locations (keep tuned for information about the first retreat in 2019 in Nusa Lembongan, Indonesia - coming soon).

In Kelly's spare time, she is studying her MBA, travels and is a competitive surf life saver - having competed in the World Surf Life Saving titles in France in 2014 and plans to travel to Italy in 2020 for the upcoming world titles.

Michael Saunders

Director | Business Manager

After bouncing around labouring roles, Michael found himself a role within the mining industry. 22 years later and studies in Mine Surveying, Mine Engineering and Leadership as well as stints in the Reserves and Mines Rescue Teams has given Michael a well-rounded set of skills within the facilitation, leadership, coaching and mentoring streams.

Michael has also worked across multiple commodities including iron ore, gold, zinc, copper and uranium; with large multi-nationals and small juniors both here in Australia as well as internationally in Africa and PNG.

For the last 6 years Michael has been bringing these technical and leadership skills to companies on an contract basis as they have identified deficiencies within their organisations through his role as Director of Aamori Mining. He is excited to now be bringing those skills to Aamori Group.

Paul Berry

Professional Development Facilitator

After completing school and a short stint in the Public Service, Paul spent 14 months working in a NW mining town and gained an insight into the workings of the Iron Ore mining industry before moving on to study. Having completed a Diploma in Applied Science he gained a position in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company in Perth, a role which ultimately covered Manufacturing and Operations Management, Materials Planning and for the last 10 years of employment there, responsible for Procurement and Plant Contracts.

The journey there lasted for 32 years and provided many opportunities for personal development both his own and to provide mentoring to others. Areas trained included manufacturing process control, staff motivation and management, business operations excellence and root cause problem analysis as some of the topics.

During this time he was an active yachtsman, competing on both closed waterways and ocean events and started an interest in Surf Life Saving with the other members of his family. That interest evolved into full blown involvement and is still volunteering as a Life Saver on the beach as well as providing training to Club members and as a commercial trainer in the area of First Aid.

Just in case the weather is not nice enough to sail or go to the beach, Paul also enjoys distance running with the “new” sport of Ultra marathon or triathlon – but only in a team, and (now) at a gentleman’s pace!

Shirley strives to be the best version of herself and is passionate about inspiring others to be the best version of themselves also.  When she takes off her professional hat Shirley enjoys travelling to far flung places and experiencing different countries and cultures.  She loves nothing more than strapping on the hiking boots and setting off on new adventures with her backpack whilst taking snaps along the way of the many wonderful places she visits in the hope of inspiring others to travel also.

Her motto for living is: 'Life is short, wear your happy pants'!
